Abstract

One of the most recent energy management technologies which enables the prosumers to participate in the market actively with the aim of increasing their economic benefits is peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading technology. Meanwhile, application of this next-generation energy management technology has some benefits to the electrical grid such as reducing the gird losses, decreasing the pressure on the conventional power plants on the peak periods, and increasing the efficiency of electrical energy storges. Thus, this chapter is focused on introducing this technology comprehensively and list a number of actual existing P2P energy trading projects in worldwide. Each specific characteristics of these models are explained in a way to demonstrate how P2P energy trading technology improved the power system efficiency.
