Abstract

With the advent of affordable signal processing hardware, acoustic interfaces of many telecommunication terminals developed from loudspeakers and microphones with some gain control into complex systems integrating powerful signal processing for enhancement of communication quality. The requirements for signal processing to satisfy the human user vary strongly depending on the acoustic interface and the communication scenario.
