Abstract

(from the cover) The Encyclopedia of Schizophrenia is a concise yet thorough guide to current interventions for managing and treating schizophrenia. This book - a leader in its field - presents essential background information paired with practical techniques in a novel encyclopedia-like format, and is aimed at clinicians, researchers and research managers, as well as advanced students. The various medications used to treat schizophrenia are described and their mechanisms of action are outlined. Similarly, non-pharmacological techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, family-based approaches and psychoeducation, are discussed. Illustrated with high-quality diagrams and images, this encyclopedia has been edited by experts in experimental and clinical aspects of schizophrenia and includes contributions from numerous internationally recognized specialists.
