Abstract

The pathophysiological changes in renal insufficiency were considered in so far as they are of interest to the anesthetist, also discussed were the metabolism and pharmacokinetics of suitable anesthetic agents and muscle relaxants in renal disease. As long as a minimum renal function exists the anesthetic procedure of choice is either NLA or spinal anesthesia. 133 references are cited.
