As part of the EU Green Deal, the European Commission presented the EU Climate Law intending to enshrine the political agreement to reach climate neutrality in 2050 into law. The ambition to achieve climate neutrality will lead to a plethora of challenges across the gas value chain, from its production to transportation, all the way through the consumption and end-uses. The gas infrastructure business in particular needs to carefully consider future innovative business models and build a strong case for the role of gas in sectoral integration, promoting the use of existing infrastructure in smart combination with renewable electricity to limit costs and enable a just transition.
