Abstract

The fire resistance of building is considered from the point of view of resistance to fire-caused collapse. Structural features, components and methods of construction that may contribute to fire-caused collapse are pointed out. Hazard of masonry walls, sawn wood beams, steel connections and concrete buildings are discussed. The type of connection determines the structural fire resistance of buildings.
