Abstract

Popular culture - the body of movies, television programs, music, books, and clothing enjoyed by ordinary people - is ubiquitous. Despite the prevalence and accessibility of popular culture texts in our lives, however, educational researchers, policy makers, and classroom teachers continue to debate the usefulness of incorporating such low culture texts into English language arts curricula.
