Abstract

Several kinds of sensors for oral applications (including pH, temperature and oclusal force sensors) have been reported in the literature. Unfortunately, most of them use cables to connect the sensor to the external processing circuits, so that patient mobility and comfort are restricted. This paper describes a novel oclusal force sensor based on an inductive transducer and a blocking oscillator. The sensor is passive, being powered from outside using an inductive link. The developed sensor features are presented and experimental results provided. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
