Increasing elderly populations, medical facility under-staffing, and increased governmental spending on healthcare have created a shaky climate which could ultimately lead to bankrupting government healthcare programs and generally lower qualities of healthcare for all individuals. This chapter proposes a secure and reliable web-based architecture for a mobile platform based system for monitoring a wireless sensor network of medical devices which could effectively be used as a solution in mitigating costs on individual patient care while maintaining a high quality level of care. First we discuss related work in the area of wireless medical sensor networks. Then we describe our proposed solution and detail our experimental implementation and results.
