Abstract

With modality in systematic functional linguistics as the theoretical framework, we attempt to investigate the distribution and model verbs in Major Barbara and its two Chinese versions by Lin Haozhuang and Ying Ruocheng by the aid of text-processing software AntConc 3.2.2, in the hope of exploring the shaping force of modality system in characterization as well as interpersonal relationships in drama translation. In addition, a valid research model of corpus functional stylistics in drama translation is tentatively conducted. © 2014 ACADEMY PUBLISHER Manufactured in Finland.
