Abstract

The introduction establishes the geographical scope and disciplinary breadth of a new field of study we might call Early Modern Black Diaspora Studies. It discusses the origins of Black Studies and reviews some of the scholarship in the field of Early Modern Studies relevant to race and the black diaspora.
