Simulation is a popular method of studying a Supply Chain (SC) system. This paper presents an overview of simulation in SCs. Basic concepts of systems, models and simulation are described and different views of simulation are shown. Simulation-based optimization techniques and the latest developments of simulation approaches in SC are presented. The paper also discusses the future trends of simulation.
