Abstract

Managing dental hygiene of children with cerebral palsy is a challenging endeavor for the caregiver and the dental provider, and these challenges vary in accordance with the severity of the cognitive and physical impairment of the child. This chapter will discuss the importance of establishing a dental home early, the benefits of routine dental hygiene practices to reduce the number of required dental experiences, and the access-to-care difficulties faced by children with disabilities like cerebral palsy and the families that care for them.
