Abstract

The structure of monolayer Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of chlorophyll a (Chl-a) has been studied by FT-IR spectroscopy. The 1750-1450 cm-1 region of the FT-IR spectra shows that Chl-a occurs as a five-coordinate monomer in the LB films irresp. of the no. of layers. The FT-IR spectra of the multilayer LB films are very close to the spectrum of a monolayer LB film, indicating that the interactions between each layer are very weak. [on SciFinder (R)]
