Abstract

The present contribution describes a potential application of Grid Computing in Bioinformatics. High resolution structure determination of biological specimens is critical in BioSciences to understanding the biological function. The problem is computational intensive and distributed computing and Grid Computing are thus becoming essential. This contribution analyzes the use of Grid Computing and its potential benefits in the field of electron microscope tomography of biological specimens. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
