It seeks to determine the effects of mining on economic development and poverty reduction in Cajamarca, 2021-2022. In the prospective analysis, the megatrend was addressed as major force of global change, which has cross-cutting implications for the future of governments, the population, and the economy (CEPLAN, 2022). Cajamarca has potential in its natural resources (mining, agriculture, among others); however, the economic development and entrepreneurship strategies of medium-sized companies, small companies and a segment of the population are not adequate. This phenomenon of havingresources and being a department with a high poverty rate is complex to understand, however, the investigations allow us to identify some causes, such as: the inadequate management of its authorities, corruption, the inadequate culture of progress in a segment of the population, among others. Cajamarca requires new development approaches such as shared value versus the social responsibility of the State (CSR) which is welfare. The authorities and personnel responsible for regional management must redirect their economic development strategies, such as: industrialization of resources, positioning of their products in the market; being the training of small and medium-sized companies the key factor for the strategies to be executed.
