Abstract

This review is dedicated to the research on the functions of melanin pigments in fungi. The participation of melanin pigments in protection from environmental factors is considered. Data on the biosynthetic pathways and types of melanin pigments in fungi are presented. © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Inc.
