Abstract

Mobile agent technology is growing to be an important research topic both in institutions and enterprises. In recent years, RFID middleware technology gains great attentions and load balancing is an important technique to achieve high performance for RFID middlewares. In this paper, we propose an approach to load balancing for RFID middlewares based on Mobile Agent System. Two agents, LGA and RLBA, are designed. LGA is used to gather global workload of RFID middlewares, and RLBA executes load balancing process in case of overloading. This approach fully employed the merits of mobile agent system and provides a scalable and flexible approach to load balancing for RFID middlewares. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
