Abstract

Criteria of the application of solar drying is rentability, which can be characterized by payback time. Shortest payback time /0. 5. . . 3 years/ can be reached with simple-structure, cheap solar dryers, especially in the case when the material to be dried needs mild, low temperature drying, does not demand continuous operation and the task of drying ensures the utilization of the dryer for a long period of the year. Cheap construction in itself is not sufficient as a precondition of the rentability because the price may be interdependent with the life time of the drier and with the costs of re-establishment and maintenance.
