Abstract

Product pricing requires complex task to offer customers real time information and current price values at the point of sale. Information technologies can solve the problems associated to the generation and distribution systems of the product information. In this paper, a system for autonomous price management and distribution is presented. Using ECA rules and electronic ink technologies, a simple administration task is required to configure the global system. The result is a composite of a software application module and a hardware distribution prototype working together to provide price updates in a market environment. The requirements of this system have been drawn from proposals made by some Spanish Supermarket managers during execution of the project SMARKET, a project funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain.
