Abstract

Colonies of a predatory ant, Gnamptogenys hartmani (W. M. Wheeler)2, were discovered in northwest Louisiana (Bienville Parish) in April 1963. This is the first record of a complete reproductive colony. Wheeler's original description (1915) was based on a single specimen from Huntsville, Texas, and the only subsequent record is by Brown (1961), who identified workers and winged females collected by E. Molendez in Honduras.
