Abstract

Developing agent-based applications without an integrated development environment (IDE) is difficult and error-prone. Providing good IDEs to the developers eases agent programming and enhances the quality of the output, which perhaps helps the agent-oriented paradigm to become more widely accepted. To achieve this important objective, we have developed Toolipse, a fully featured IDE prototype, based on the Eclipse platform, for the development of JIAC applications. Toolipse has been used and evaluated in teaching and a number of projects in different domains and helped their users creating pinpoint solutions. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
