Abstract

The case of catheter-associated fungemia caused by Fusarium chlamydosporum is described in a patient with lymphocytic luymphoma. The fungus, which has been isolated from soil but not reported to cause human infection, characteristically produces microconidiophores that are polyphialides bearing microconidia that are spindle-shaped but never globose. Results of in vitro antimicrobial susceptibility tests depended on the test conditions used.
