Abstract

Information on consumer satisfaction is essential for quality improvement in care homes. We identified 12 essential needs based on our interviews with 15 care home residents in the UK, and conduced a Kano questionnaire survey of 102 residents from 35 care homes in the London region. Three 'delighters' from the 12 essential needs were further identified, i.e. accessible equipment, home-like environment, and suitable design. It is believed that the improvement of any of these three factors will significantly increase residents' satisfaction.
