IVUS has matured from a research tool to become a common clinical device in current cardiac catheterization laboratories to guide coronary interventions. This diagnostic modality clearly provides complementary morphologic information for evaluating the composition and severity of complex lesions, which can facilitate the rational choice of therapeutic devices as well as the endpoint assessment in specific lesions. In this chapter, state-of-the-art of intracoronary ultrasound imaging is reviewed.
