Abstract

In this work, we present a novel system for realtime planning and guidance of breast HDR brachytherapy treatment, using 3DUS. Modules were developed for catheter optimization, image reconstruction, semi-automatic segmentation and catheter tracking. The new system was found efficient and was validated in phantom for real-time planning and guidance of breast HDR brachytherapy treatment. A modified system may also be used for permanent breast brachytherapy.
