The objective of was a to analise the phytosociological parameters of a semideciduous forest fragment in a secondary forest, São Carlos, São Paulo State (21° 55” S and 47° 48” W). Fifty plots of 10 m x 20 m (200 m2) were established and distributed perpendiculary to a path in the forest fragment. Trees with a breast height of at least 5 cm of diameter (DBH) were tagged, measured, and identified. 1,343 individuals were sampled in the phytosociologic study. The species with the highest importance value (IV) were: Metrodorea nigra (33.09%), Pachystroma longifolium (22.64%), Aspidosperma ramiflorum (20.41%), Actinostemon communis (17.38%), Croton floribundus (12.70%), Savia dictyocarpa (12.14%), Ocotea pretiosa (10.24%) and Machaerium stipitatum (10.01%), that together comprised 46.20% of total IV and while the 92 remaining species comprised 53.80%.
