Abstract

Lithium nickel manganese oxide cathode material, LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4, was prepared by an improved microwave heating method. Prepared cathode materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and chargedischarge measurements. XRD results indicated that single-phase LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 powders were obtained under the optimized preparation conditions. SEM investigation demonstrated that the powders had an octahedron shape and a particles size of about 200300 nm. The obtained LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 exhibited good electrochemical performance and delivered an initial discharge capacity of 145mAhg at a current density of 20mAg1.
