This article theoretically examines the stochastic process of a spiking neuron whose spike response is similar to that of the Hodgkin-Huxley (H-H) model. Our simplified model based on a linear differential equation can successfully reproduce the subthreshold membrane properties of the H-H model. Analyzing the stochastic process of this model, we find that the neuron resonates with Poisson input spikes whose intensity oscillates with a certain frequency. This frequency corresponds to the proper frequency of the H-H model.
