Abstract

Pseudoarthrosis or nonunion of the spine is a well-known complication of large deformity surgery. The identification and prevention of nonunion begins with patient selection, the index surgery, and extends into the postoperative period with close monitoring. We discuss patient factors, surgical factors, diagnosis, and treatment of pseudoarthrosis and nonunion of the spine.
