Abstract

This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: Our primary objective is to assess the effects of pharmacological interventions on the duration of delirium in critically ill patients with confirmed or documented high risk of delirium. Our secondary objectives are to assess: 1) the effects of pharmacological interventions on delirium-free and coma-free days, relapse, duration of mechanical ventilation, ICU and hospital length of stay, mortality, long-term outcomes (e.g. cognitive, discharge disposition, health-related quality of life); and 2) the safety of such delirium treatments in critically ill patients.
