Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze, based on the Program called Incubator of Popular and Solidarity Economy Initiatives (of the Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana, State of Bahia, Brazil), elements which contribute to Popular and Solidarity Economy becoming a strategy for the solidary local development. In this sense, a reflection is made on the basis of what agents or initiatives that have participated in an incubation process from 2008 to 2012 think of this economy. For this purpose, some categories are distinguished: (a) Popular and Solidarity Economy as a strategy for local development; (b) guidance, popular organicity and solidary local development; (c) agents or initiatives of Popular and Solidarity Economy for solidary development; (d) and the university incubator as a coordinating agent of the Popular and Solidarity Economy for solidary local development. It was possible to conclude that this program can actually be considered a major agent which articulates the other agents or initiatives of this economy for solidary local development by interweaving wisdoms, diverse forms of knowledge and public policies of incubation. Keywords: Popular and Solidarity Economy, solidary local development, agents or initiatives of Popular and Solidarity Economy.
