Ozone is applied in medical treatments due to its properties as an immune modulator, antiseptic, to promote angiogenesis, favoring the collagen production, release of cytokines and growth factors, regulation of endocrine hormones and trigger the antioxidants formation by organisms, as well as by inactivating viruses. HIV is a virus that mainly attacks the human immune system leaving it vulnerable to many types of infections. To a 23-year-old male patient with the clinical signs of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, 120 μg of ozone every third day on 18 occasions as ozone therapy was applied, alternating autohemotherapy and ozone rectal application. At the end of the treatment, comparative clinical trials before and after treatment revealed that ozone therapy contributed to the antiretroviral treatment (ART) applied by the Health Sector, achieving significant improvement in viral count and immune response.
