Abstract

The article problematizes the didactics used for the teaching of Natural Sciences in the context of social and cultural diversity in the Mapuche context. The methodology used is a documentary-descriptive review of the scientific, normative and dissemination literature in the context of the Chilean school system in order to systematize indigenous educational contents that contribute to the teaching-learning processes. The main results show that there is indigenous educational knowledge capable of incorporating and sustaining an intercultural didactics of Natural Sciences, which would allow the learning of all indigenous and non-indigenous students. We conclude on the urgency of continuing education and training for teachers in professional practice and in initial teacher training on the principles of indigenous pedagogy and education. The above, as a strategy that allows the articulation of indigenous and school educational knowledge and backgrounds, to offer schooling processes from an intercultural educational approach.
