Photogrammetry

Abstract

The term Photogrammetry, meaning at its origin measuring on photographs, has been defined as the science and technique of interpreting and evaluating the form, dimension and position of objects by analyzing and measuring images of them. The result of photogrammetric procedures is a precise three-dimensional geometric reconstruction of the object that can be orthogonally projected onto a plane (normally horizontally or vertically) at a certain scale or visualized in a perspective static or dynamic representation in a computer monitor for further evaluation. Due to the fact that the measuring does not occur directly on the object, photogrammetry is considered a remote sensing technique.
