Abstract

The patient and surgical site were identified and marked in the preholding area. The patient underwent anesthesia per the anesthesia team. The shoulder was examined under anesthesia. Then, the patient was repositioned in the lateral decubitus position on a bean bag with all bony prominences padded. The torso was rolled posteriorly 25°, axillary roll placed, and the arm was placed into a foam traction sleeve and suspended in 30° of abduction, 15° of flexion. Ten pounds of weight were used for traction. IV antibiotics were administered.
