In the setting of the technical requirements for performing an effective cardiac CT angiography (CCT) study, patient preparation plays a crucial role. Inadequate patient preparation can influence all the following phases of the procedure, and in the end affect the diagnostic result of the study. The concept of preparation for the examination should be seen in its broadest sense. It should include patient selection, pharmacologic management and the delivery of explicit patient instructions.
