Abstract

Psychological trauma in combat veterans is commonly associated with significant shame and guilt over actions. When present, these feelings can generate resistance to treatment. Establishment of a solid therapeutic alliance is an essential element in the treatment of veterans with psychological trauma as a means of overcoming the resistance generated by feelings of shame and guilt.
