Abstract

This chapter deals with fungi in the broad sense, i.e. organisms studied by mycologists, including species classified within three different eukaryotic king- doms: Eumycota, Chromista (or Stramenipila) and Protozoa (Whittaker 1969; Cavalier-Smith 1986; Worral 1999). Lichen forming fungi are considered in Essl and Lambdon (2009).
