Opinion piece: Genomics and crop plant science in Europe

Abstract

Recent report reviews and funding initiatives in the field of plant genomic research are considered in the context of their translation into practical and economic value via plant breeding. It is concluded that there is a deficit in investment and that a change in working styles towards knowledge sharing and connectivity is required. © 2005 Blackwell Publishing Ltd.
