Abstract

This chapter aims to cover the basic science of robotic surgery focusing on all the devices currently in clinical use. We hope to give the potential and practicing robotic surgeon an understanding of the scientific basis behind the machines themselves and provide a concise framework of the practical nuances. © 2008 Springer-Verlag London.
