Abstract

The paper gives some idea of the variety of transmissions available. The accompanying table gives a ready means of comparison between some of the factors influencing the choice to be made from the previous list. Following the list are general appraisals of some of the gear systems. Two examples of custom made units and two examples of off-shelf units have been included for interest and by way of example.
