In metal forming processes at elevated temperatures the inter- action between tool and workpiece is much affected by the temperature field. The interface asperity interaction is associated with such processes as workpiece asperity flattening, ploughing of tool asperities through work- piece and abrasion of third body particles. In the present work, the dual asperity model of interaction is presented and the evolution of interface state variables is predicted from the constitutive model. The thermoplastic equations for the interface are provided.
