Abstract

An efficient and systematic hybrid fiber-radio scheme is demonstrated. The system is mainly based on digitized RF over fiber technique. The systems use a single analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to frequency translation instead of mixers and local oscillators. To improve the transmission of analog radio over fiber (RoF) links, a digitized radio over fiber (DRoF) scheme is used. For improving the performance of the overall system, electronic ADC is replaced by photonic ADC. The system then shows the improvement in terms of BER and bandwidth performance.
