Abstract

DESPITE the confusion in the nomenclature of the so called “ Takayasu's disease ” which affects young females developing stenotic lesions in the aorta and its major branches, it has been widely accepted that it is a clinical entity. Recently, it was known that the disease locates not only in the proximal aorta but also in the distal aorta and its branches. Only few literatures are encountered as to the indication and method of surgical treatment. This communication deals with a case in which the ophthalmological findings indicated the operative method and thus bypass procedures were successfully done. © 1967, International Heart Journal Association.
