Abstract

Among mites, those inhabiting various plants were selected as a target group. Their diverse life types are introduced in Chapter 2. In particular, the knowledge that the tremendous diversity of spider mites, a famous pest group in agriculture and forestry, is largely the result of a co-evolutionary ``arms-race'' with their specific predator group the phytoseiid mites, is addressed.
