Abstract

The Message-Passing Interface (MPI) is evaluated by rewriting message parallel programs for Householder reduction, matrix multiplication, and successive overrelaxation. The author concludes that MPI is a practical programming tool. It does, however, lack the elegance and security that can only be achieved by a parallel programming language.
