Abstract

Children and adolescents in the current generations have been considered as digital natives, to be immersed from his early life in the information and communication technologies (ICT). Early contact and the widespread use that make these supports have led to that their way of interacting with the family and social environment and the world in general is different from that of previous generations. The use of these technologies offers undoubted benefits that are accompanied by considerable risks and damage that must be known and valued by parents, educators and medical personnel. These include such sensitive issues as the receipt of inaccurate information, privacy and security, access to inappropriate or harmful content for age and cyber bullying. Primary care pediatrician can play an important role in promoting the proper use of ICT, trying to minimize the negative consequences which could result in a not appropriate use of these technologies in the psycho-physical and social development of children and adolescents.
