Abstract

Partial shading on photovoltaic panels reduces the output power of the PV modules. Due to this P–V curve experiences multiple peaks which makes the maximum power point tracking complex. The row currents are different when the panel experiences partial shading. In the paper, a method is proposed to disperse the shade uniformly along the panel which increases the output power through physical relocation. The method proposed allows the shade to get dispersed all over the array and thus the losses due to mismatch are reduced. The characteristics of the TCT connection are compared with the proposed method. The methodology is performed for the 9 × 9 array for two shading patterns. Finally, simulations on every case are carried out and the characteristics are plotted. The obtained results have better output than the existing TCT methodology.
