The Nagel-Schreckenberg model of traffic is modified by the assumption that each car has an individual velocity limit. By simulations, the effect of supplementary rules is checked: (a) a speed limit of the slowest car is changed and/or (b) a speed limit of a car with zero gap behind is increased. It is shown that both rules increase the mean velocity; (b) rule influences the character of congested traffic - cars move though at low velocity. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.
